10 Success Habits of A Small Growing Luxury Business

After last week’s blog regarding the Olympics and what lessons we derive from the experiences of the absolute top athletes in their respective fields, a curious reader inquired as to our specific habits that keep us focused on “the main things” in building a luxury leather business. As with any creative business, Beau Satchelle has for the most part, two main areas: the creative side (the design and production of our leather goods) and the sales/marketing end (getting our products seen and sold). Our success in these two areas are determined by building consistent, small steps every day that stimulates momentum and progress over time. For Beau Satchelle, keeping our eye on the prize, a successful luxury leather company, requires us to practice the following ten habits: 1. Maintaining a Healthy Body – not suggesting to necessarily be in shape to perform a marathon (unless that is the goal), but at least creating the physical routines for endurance on those long days that support good energy and fitness in the area of exercise and healthy eating. 2. Maintaining Healthy Mind Set – Reading positive and intelligent materials and books, listening to educational podcasts, watching You Tube channels of other entrepreneurs, networking with other business owners keeps us sharp and encouraged. More importantly, having a great sense of humor will keep you sane! 3. Gratitude – the daily grind of a business can be draining and challenging. To keep a perspective on what’s truly important, acknowledging what we are grateful for comes in different forms whether that be through prayer, writing in a journal, using this blog to publicly acknowledge who and what we are thankful for or just recognizing our teammates value to this business is worth its’ weight in gold. Showing gratitude to others is limitless and appreciated. 4. […]

A Client’s Concern: Caring For Your Bespoke Leather Product.

One of Beau Satchelle’s lovely clients purchased one of our custom designed, gorgeous ___ arctic blue tote bag that she uses for the office and a matching overnight duffel bag for a weekend getaway. A week ago, she contacted me, describing how an awful ink pen found its wicked way to her Tote, leaving its signature of three blue lines near the bottom of the tote bag and was quite noticeable. Needless to say she was upset and asked for suggestions as to the best method of removing the ink while preserving the bag’s leather and maintaining the color. We were able to suggest a cleaner/conditioner that eliminated the ink and kept the beauty of the bag intact. If you handle your one-of-a-kind Beau Satchelle bag with the upmost care, it will maintain its longevity. So let us share six tips with you on caring for your bespoke leather bags. 1. Leather absorb oils each time it is touched. So, first and foremost keep your hands clean to prevent makeup, hair products, perfumes, spray deodorant or lotions from getting on your handbag. A helpful accessory tip to protect the handbag’s handles is to take one of your favorite, matching silk scarf and wrap around. 2. Avoid placing your handbag on/in places where it may get scratched or stained; shopping cart trolley, file cabinet drawers, hair salon’s floors or countertops or anywhere a splinter, rough edge or chemicals can damage your luxury good. 3. Avoid spillage of beverages and liquids as they may leave a watermark; even mineral water can leave a mark if not attended to promptly. If bag gets wet, blot dry with towels and allow to air dry. If you absolutely must venture out in the rain with your luxury bag, another protective, accessory tip that I would […]

Beau Satchelle, Vision Board Of Our Future

2019 will be here before you know it. Perhaps we’re getting ahead of ourselves, since we’re in the middle of preparing for our Spring 2016 launch. But what better way to build upon our current excitement than to not only focus on the present yet look toward the future and share our short term goals. For Beau Satchelle, when creating our business plan we embraced the author, Dr. Steven Covey’s Habit #2 “Begin With The End in Mind”. By clarifying in our minds as to how our company will look in a few years. This accomplished several things for Beau Satchelle: 1. Created a platform to think bigger as to our place in the global world of luxury lifestyle 2. It provides us the whole map to the road, the guidelines and the milestones to fulfill our three year vision 3. We can determine what our social impact will be on this planet Three years was a long enough period to measure our progress by breaking goals into smaller chunks of time. This process started by defining who we are today. Beau Satchelle’s vision is Bespoke Luxury for the Discerning individual. Beau Satchelle’s mission statement: We provides fine bespoke leather handbags, cases, luggage, accessories and connoisseur specialties to those who crave individuality and one of a kind pieces. Spring Has Sprung

After a long winter (in some locations, longer and colder than others), we’re all looking forward to the magic of spring. Especially here in Michigan, where Beau Satchelle’s headquarters is located, we’ve faced a characteristically cold winter compared to some of our neighbors down south. We really look forward to getting some warmer temperatures soon as the first day of spring comes near. There’s something about the spring. It’s exciting to watch the snow melt, the first green shoots poke through the brown dirt, and of course, the beautiful colorful flowers we plant in the fall sprout through the brown earth. We put away our shovels and snow blowers and our winter wear, and decide to throw open the shutters to let the sun shine in. We think about organizing the clutter to make room for the new things that spring brings, and of course, our attention turns to our closet and our wardrobe. Spring means that it’s time to evaluate our wardrobes. Anything heavy and dark gets put away for a few seasons’ rest with our gratitude, and we cycle our lighter fabrics, pretty prints, and brighter colors. Of course, we evaluate what we need and go shopping, which is the fun part. How to pack away your winter leather Use a soft cloth to wipe down your quality leather goods before filling the bag with absorbent paper to help the bag keep its shape. Store the bag in a cloth, or breathable bag before putting it in a place that it can breathe. Do not store your quality leather in plastic containers or plastic bags. Want to keep it simple? We do, too! You will note that some things are great year round. This is especially if you have fewer accessories, or are a minimalist and want to […]

How Buying From A Small Luxury Company Can Make A Difference

When you buy something special to treat yourself or someone else, what are you looking for? Chances are, you don’t shop for that luxury item the way you would buy groceries or toiletries or cleaning products. No, when you look for something special, you want to take your time to choose something that speaks to you. You want to buy something that is one of a kind or at least not mass produced. You want to buy something that was made with care, and that you know will last. You want something that will stand the test of time. That’s why, when you buy something to treat yourself, you should consider a small luxury company. A small luxury company cares. Because they are a small company, they will make a special effort to produce something with love and care, and utmost attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. They want to make sure their customer is happy with the product or service, so that he or she will return in the future. A small company may not have the advertising budget that large companies have, so they rely on referrals and word of mouth. That’s another reason why they want to make the customer happy. A small luxury company is willing to work hard for your business. They will bend over backwards for you, and go out of their way to make sure your transaction was perfect. They will listen to your suggestions as a customer, and actually take them the boardroom for further discussion, rather than sweep them under the rug. A small luxury company will put time and effort into each piece to ensure that it is perfect. They won’t let a less than stellar piece slip out the door, because they know their reputation is on the line. […]

It’s Cold – Get Outside!

Brrr! It’s cold in North America this time of year, especially in Detroit, where we’re located. With Christmas and the holidays over, and with many weeks of winter left to come, it can get somewhat depressing this time of year. Most of us just want to turn up the thermostat, light a fire in the fireplace, and bundle up in our favorite woolly sweaters and drink a hot chocolate. But wait! It doesn’t have to be depressing this winter. Depending on where you are located, winter happens from a few months to half the year every year, so you might as well take advantage of it. And winter doesn’t have to mean a death sentence for your sense of style. In fact, many fashionistas have learned to embrace the cold and the snow and make their winter wear and winter activities part of their style. You don’t have to be especially outdoorsy or nature-oriented to enjoy this time of year. There are lots of things you can do to keep active this time of year. Read on for our favorites! Take to the trails or to the slopes Whether you prefer cross-country skiing or taking your adventures to great heights, skiing is a very popular activity in the winter. Head to Colorado, north to the Canadian Rockies or to Switzerland for some world-class skiing. Believe us, nothing screams luxury lifestyle like heading out for a day on the slopes and then sipping champagne or hot cocoa by the fire in your private ski lodge afterwards. Go somewhere warm Whether you head to Hawaii, the Caribbean or Los Angeles, a trip somewhere toasty warm is luxurious in the wintertime. Be sure to accessorize with warm-weather accessories, like a killer bathing suit, a bespoke luxury leather handbag from our current collection, and […]

Selecting The Perfect Luxury Handbag

So you’ve decided to pamper yourself with a new handbag. After all, you work hard, and you’re worth it. Whether you’re celebrating a promotion, a birthday, anniversary, another special occasion, or have just decided to treat yourself, a new bag is an ultimate gift to yourself. First of all, a luxury handbag is a great idea. In addition to being a good investment – many luxury leather handbags have great resale value, should your tastes ever change – bags and other accessories are great for your self-esteem. Unlike clothing, like shirts, pants, dresses and swimwear, purses will always look wonderful on you, and complement all body types, even when you’re not feeling the best about yourself that day. Unlike clothing, which is worn in rotation, handbags are also used every day, and are a practical accessory that everyone notices as soon as you walk in the door. It would make sense to spend the money and the time to choose one that really suits your needs, in a style that you really love. At Beau Satchelle, we have every current style you could possibly want. All of our bespoke leather pieces are functional, yet luxurious handcrafted works of art. Handstitched with love and care, they convey confidence, professionalism, glamour, sophistication, style, elegance, and the good life. Once you’ve decided to make a purchase, the choices can be overwhelming. There are so many choices out there. Do you choose a clutch, or a satchel? A cross-body bag, or a tote? What size of bag should you choose? Ponder Its Purpose Where will you be using your handbag? If you’re saving this bag for formal or dressy outings, a clutch might be all you need to hold your wallet, phone, and a fabulous lipstick. But if you’re a mother, a tote might […]
