The True Costs of Purchasing Bespoke

Weekly and often daily, without fail, we have a discussion with a potential client who is sometime novice to the world of bespoke on the subject of price. Instead of the snarky response of “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it”, in which we’ve heard some artisans say, we decided to dedicate this blog to a discussion on the value of purchasing bespoke. There are articles where writers question whether the growing popular word “bespoke” is an overused term. Basically the word means “specially made for a particular person”; it’s “customized” as many Americans relate to. In early centuries, throughout Europe, bespoke tailoring dedicated development to the craft of tailoring fabrics, especially men’s suits. Bespoke exudes refinement, class, and luxury. For some, it brings a particular affluent lifestyle and status and for others to participate in an interactive journey with a personalized result. Bespoke has a place in every high end industry including wedding dressings, perfume, shoes, interior design, cars, furniture, jewelry, watches, liquor, even software to name a few! So as you make the leap into the world of bespoke, let’s look at 3 factors that influence the cost of these beautiful investments. Labor – the Master’s talent, his or her craftsmanship and dedication to detail; it is an undertaking of the crafter’s love for creating excellence in his or her particular field. Even in the world of bespoke perfume, which takes personalization to a whole new level, developing a specific fragrance can cost tens of thousands of dollars. In addition, a client pays for the time invested into his or her custom piece. A bespoke suit can take up to 8 weeks and several fittings before it is delivered. A leather bag or set of luggage can take months depending on the clients request which leads […]

For Lovers Of Luxury Leather…it’s a way of life.

The look…sensual and rich. The feel..it begs to be touched. And definitely, the smell…awakens powerful memories and positive moods, connects to nature and no other scent can imitate that of leather. Leather is a lifestyle; whether it cushions your body in the seat of your automobile or brings warmth to the interior of your home through furniture or floors, frames for mirrors, valued historical books, or customized cigar or jewelry boxes. In fashion, leather’s versatility is everywhere. The range of fashion in outerwear and stylish clothing, protecting your hands from the winter elements in soft lambskin or kidskin gloves, fashioned into the finest bespoke shoes for the well dressed man, or enhancing a diva’s jewelry collection with select leather pieces. And of course Ladies, our favorite…handbags. Let’s be clear, not all leather was created equal. Inexpensive and less durable items are created from bonded leather which is essentially a process of shredding leather scraps and fiber, then mixing it with bonding materials that is then pressed together with a fiber or paper backer. This keeps consumers replacing their products after short periods of wear and tear. So let’s take a quick look at the different types of leather. Cow is the most common source for hides and it is processed in a few ways: Full Grain Leather which is made from the finest natural hides that have not been sanded or buffed to remove imperfections. Full grained calfskin handbags are made from the skins of young cattle and are prized for their smooth texture and fine quality. Top Grain leather is the most common type in high-end leather products. It is […]

What To Buy Your Love On Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air as that time of the year is approaching again. The onset of February means Valentine’s Day. February 14 is one of the most built-up days of the year. Thanks to the candy and card companies, who turned a 15th century priest’s story into a commercial holiday, we can’t go anywhere without seeing pink, red and white hearts everywhere, ads for chocolate, jewelry and other luxury items, and the expectation that men are supposed to shower their partners with jewels. It’s a day that requires deep pockets of some whose lady loves are expecting a materialistic declaration of love. Still, if you want to keep the peace – and earn big points at the same time – there’s certainly no harm in spoiling your Valentine with a little surprise. If you’re single, you may want to indulge yourself on this day. After all, as the luscious blonde in those hair dye commercial says, “you’re worth it!” Here are some gift ideas for your sweetheart – or yourself. Give the gift of gorgeous blooms Whether you present her with a bouquet of flowers, or a single red rose to declare your love, make sure you get to the florist early. Remember that everyone and their cousin will be racing to the florist on February 14, so if you want to avoid being stuck with a bunch of wilted, left over blooms, you’ll want to order early. A word of warning: the markup on flowers on this day will be insane, so be prepared. I Chocolates and candy Whether you buy your Valentine chocolates from a fancy chocolatier, or the drugstore, the sentiment is the same, but try to splurge if you can – maybe she will share with you! And chocolate is, after all, an aphrodisiac. Diamonds […]
