Luxury Offerings for 2019: Detroit Edition

With a brand new year, there have been trends and pre-announcements for goods and services throughout the luxury market.  As the number of baby boomer retirees increase every year and their lifestyle goals change in areas of wellness, estate planning and wealth transferring; while on the other hand, the tastes and purchases of their children, grandchildren and great grand children are shaping the landscape of what designers, inventors, and brands are producing. In this brand new year, what can connoisseurs of all things luxury anticipate as consumers? We enjoy our responsibility of being an ambassador to our own city, so let’s kick the blog year off beginning with our hometown Detroit:

Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Limited Edition

Without a doubt, automotive history buffs or Lincoln Continental fanatics, have seen the renderings and this year the unveiling of the 2019 Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Limited Edition. Having coach or its more infamous name “suicide doors” is one of the design features that made this historic luxury automobile a well sought after jewel. The Lincoln Continental has been built for U.S. presidents, dignitaries and entertainers of the early 20th century. Of course, anyone who watches the old gangster movies of the 1930s remember these doors used for more nefarious reasons.   Only 80 will be built with a price tag of $100,000, with the first to roll off the production lines Spring of 2019.

The Shinola Hotel

As one of the rock stars in the leather accessories space, we are proud to see the January 2019, Grand Opening of Shinola’s boutique hotel in the heart of Downtown Detroit.  A collaborative partnership with Shinola (watchmaker bicycle and leather goods maker) and Bedrock (owned by real estate titan Dan Gilbert) is a welcoming addition to a renaissance of new smaller boutique properties and refurbished established chain hotels in the downtown area and offers 8 floors, 130 rooms, and 16,000 square feet of food, beverage and retail offerings. The hotel will be home to the San Morello, a southern Italian themed restaurant led by Chef Andrew Carmellini, a James Beard Award recipient and Michellin Star Rated Chef. This will certainly be the destination lodging for celebrities entertaining in Detroit, professional athletes playing at nearby stadiums and any discerning individual who wants to enjoy exclusive hospitality.

Year number four will serve as a backdrop for several slight, yet important alterations to our brand for the New Year in areas of marketing and adding more boutique services with our products.  The products, themselves, will continue to be bespoke, one of a kind –purely handcrafted by our design team. Our new website is under construction for a more elegant look and our VIP program will go through a few modifications to ensure that we continue creating exclusive leather goods at the highest craftsmanship and service to our purchasers. Our leather and exotic skins suppliers are stepping up by increasing their offerings and introduce new colors that will allow us to provide more combinations; as we continue to commit to make one bag per color combination. As for our blog, we will continue to offer high end lifestyle topics and plan to feature more interviews with artists and artisans who are at the top of their game. Stay tuned. -AJ
